Make a Youtube channel and start earning

Youtube is the largest video portal on the Internet and there's no denying it. Every one of us has used it and are using it consistently to watch videos of our interest. If you think about it, even you can start your own Youtube channel to make videos of your own and upload it to earn a penny or two. The process is quite simple but requires real hard work to actually grow and get something meaningful out of it. Else you can just do it for fun or as a hobby. Either way, here we show you how to effectively create a Youtube channel and help you on the way through it.

1. Choosing your topic


First of all, this is what you need to figure. You may already have thought of something as you are here reading this article. So what is it you are good at? You show lots of interest on? Is it like gaming? Whatever it is, you can make your Youtube channel out of your personal interests or your area of expertise. Just choose your topic and set your track on it. Try being unique as there are hordes of similar channels which gets lesser attention from people.

2. Getting things ready

After you are set with a topic to start, you need to think of a channel name and description and stuff. These are the basics and if you really want to get serious attention to your channel, you need to make your channel look slick and attractive. For this, you need to like make logos and cover images and stuff. Make it all look like a brand. Have your own identity. This will make your video viewers visit your channel and might convert viewers into subscribers. So now that you have an idea of what is going to be your channel, let's get to the part where we make it.

3. Make a Youtube channel

Making the Youtube channel is simple. You need to log in to Youtube with your Google account (create one if you don't have). As soon as you have signed in:

  1. You can see the tab "My Channel" on the left sidebar of Youtube. Clicking it will show you your channel and all the settings and management options.
  2. Now, if you want to start a channel with a different name you can click your account thumbnail in the top right corner and click "Add account" to create a new account.
  3. After choosing one way from that step, you can customize your channel's look and information in the My Channel page you saw before.
  4. As you can see, it's all pretty basic once you are inside it. Keep exploring the tabs and menus to find stuff.
  5. Once you're ready with your first video idea, start making it and feel free to upload it to your channel.
  6. Videos can be edited with lots of free video editors like OpenShot or VideoPad. Paid ones are recommended for matured channels that you can try later on once your channel is grown: Cyberlink PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Pro.

4. Monetising the channel

Once your channel is big enough and attracting viewers, you can decide whether to show ads on your videos (and earn money). If you want to do it, navigate to My Channel > Video Manager > Channel > Status and Features. Here you can see the list of features that are active and inactive in your channel. You can find "Monetisation" among them. Find it and click "Enable". After enabling, you can find ad options on each one of your videos from where you can control individual ads.
