Sony Xperia XA1 launched with Helio P20 and 23 MP camera at Rs 19,990
After the announcement of a new range of smartphones in the MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Sony has launched their mid-range Xperia XA1. They have made it available on all major Sony outlets across the country at Rs. 19,990.
The phone was announced at the MWC event with its sibling Xperia XA1 Ultra. XA1 Ultra is expected to be released soon. But the company's new flagship device, the Xperia XZ is also going on sale on the same day which is today.
Getting back to the Xperia XA1, it is a mid-range Android smartphone with an all plastic body and an aluminium frame at the edges. It has a 5 inch HD (1280 x 720p) display protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass in the front. It has ~294 ppi pixel density and a screen to body ratio of ~70.9%. On the right side, the phone still has the Sony's signature round power button and a dedicated camera shutter key too. There is no fingerprint sensor though, which is really common in this price range.
Other specifications include a 2.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 MT6757 processor paired with a 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. It can further be expanded with a microSD. The Xperia XA1 also has a 23 MP f/2.0 aperture rear camera with phase detection and laser autofocus and LED flash while there is a 8 MP wide-angle front facing camera. Both cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos. The phone supports 4G LTE with VoLTE and has dual-SIM support with all regular connectivity options.
The USB found on XA1 is USB Type-C. The phone runs Android Nougat out of the box. It has a 2300 mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. Sony has put their own charging technology here, what they call adaptive charging. The phone uses intelligent charging to prevent battery decline by learning your charging patterns and adapting to them. They claim that this allows them to offer up to twice the battery lifespan. Sony bundles Quick Charger UCH-12 with the phone in the box.
The Sony Xperia XA1is available in White, Black and Pink colours at Rs. 19,990. The smartphone is pretty thin at just 8 mm and it weighs 143g. So what do you think about this new addition from Sony? It sure looks like it lacks a few things but do you think Sony can make it up with other things it has here? Share your thoughts below.
